Venues ## Where in the Tweed Valley - Murwillumbah - Tweed Valley - Uki - Tyalgum - Crystal Creek ## Where services are held here Most Tweed Valley services are in the chapels the local funeral directors use, at graveside, or at home. The halls at Uki, Tyalgum and Stokers Siding take a gathering of any size and are often the right answer for a farming family, where the connection is the district rather than a church. Gardens and paddocks work too, and a marquee and a PA solve the rest of it. A Sunday service costs what a Tuesday one does. Where there is no funeral director, which is more common with celebrations of life held later and with ashes committals, I take the run sheet and bring the sound myself, and I will meet whoever is organising it wherever suits them. ## Arranging one from a long way away Families here are often scattered, and the person organising the service is frequently the one who moved to Brisbane or Melbourne twenty years ago. The family meeting works by phone or video where it has to, and it works better with three people on the call than one, because a eulogy comes out of what people remember differently. I can usually take a service within a few days of the first call, which is normally what the funeral director's chapel time allows anyway.
